Cypress is a common name for various coniferous  trees or shrubs of northern temperate  regions that belong to the family #Cupressaceae.

The word cypress derives from the Old French word “cipres,” which was imported from the Latin  word “cypressus,” the latinization of the Ancient Greek word “Κυπάρισσος” (Kyparissos).
